Wanted:
3666A1A Autovon Card Dialer
Cards
Hi,
I am a collector of Western Electric telephones and have, after many
agonizing years of searching, finally managed to obtain a rare
3666A1A Autovon Card Dialer for my collection. Now I am trying to
locate some of the special dialing cards that it uses (see attached
picture). These are different from the cards used in regular Card
Dialer phones. If you have even a hint as to where some of these
cards might be hiding, I would be grateful for any help you can
provide. Please forward this message to anybody else who might be
able to assist.
As I am trying to reach anyone and everyone who might be able to
help, please excuse the intrusion if you should receive this message
more than once.
Thank you,
David Friedman

Telephone Stories Wanted:
I worked for 381/2 years for
Ohio Bell Telephone Company, retiring on August 31 before Divesture. I
had the pleasure of working in a SXS dial office, as a station
installer, customer order assigner, toll test man, engineer (PBS, SXS,
and N & T1 CXR) and Engineer Manager. At the end of my career, I was
lucky to have the duty of coordinating the planning and engineering
with the various independent companies. Thru out my career, I met many
interesting fellow telephone employees (Bell and independent). I
observed or heard many stories of their antics, habits and problems,
including stories concerning subscribers.
I have been compiling these
stories in what I hope will become a book. The stories I am looking
for are similar to John P. Loch’s story about a dog playing the piano
and Ron Christianson’s story about the nude swimmers.
I am interested in obtaining
more such stories. If you have such stories, I would appreciate
receiving them at
dconrad2@insight.rr.com. Please put “Telephone Stories” in the
subject line. Also, please include your phone number and address, so
that I may contact you if I need clarification. If you want send the
stories by snail mail, my address is below.
Many thanks in advance for all
the help you can give.

WANTED: Bell sweat
jacket
Looking for sweat jacket with
old Bell System lineman logo on jacket usually sold at Pioneers
meetings. Have tried at numerous meetings
with no luck. Logo has lineman climbing telephone pole. Most people
think I work for the electric company. Any help where I might secure a
couple will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

WANTED
During my 35-year Bell System career, I
was fortunate to have begun and edited the employee newspaper for Western
Electric's Mountain-Northwestern Region. It was called “MNW Service.”
Without a doubt, I consider that the best job of my entire Public
Relations career.
Unfortunately, when I returned to Mountain Bell in 1970, I did not take
any copies of the newspaper, nor did I retain any for my files. I'm
wondering if you or any of your website visitors have any copies that you
would be willing to sell me. My wife, Claudia, also worked for WE and we
oftentimes wish we had some of the papers to recall names of friends and
associates.
Thank you.

WANTED: "Radio Notes" newsletters
In the '50s and '60s AT&T put out a
monthly newsletter called "Radio Notes", which discussed the latest
developments in AT&T's growing microwave radio network. I would like to
buy or borrow any issues of Radio Notes that are available. I'm also
looking for AT&T's microwave route maps from the '50s, and photos of
early microwave sites.
I'm in the process of restoring an
early (1950) microwave repeater site to its original appearance,
including rebuilding a TD-2 radio bay lineup to its original, all vacuum
tube configuration, and installing the original antennas and waveguide.
I'm interested in obtaining old TD-2 documents, parts, etc.
